One To Keep is the second book in the One To Hold series by Tia Louise. For me this book acts like more of a companion novel to the first book (One To Hold) despite being about a different couple. Much of the book took place during the same timeframe that book one was set in. We have a playboy hero who has given up on love who meets the one woman who grounds him and gets him to believe in happily ever after once again. Very swoon-worthy. Very sexy. A very enjoyable read.

Patrick Knight has relocated to Princeton to take on the position his brother left to return overseas, being the other half of the private investigation team of Alexander & Knight. He is also in Princeton to start over. After finding his fiancé in a compromising position with the neighbor, Patrick is determined to have a fresh start. He no longer believes in love. He wants to embrace the single life and take it by the reigns. Needless to say, this is exactly what this lovable lothario does. And, he does it well. That is until he gets into a pickle due to the fact that he lets his dick take complete control of his brain.

Derek, his partner and our hero in book one, sends Patrick to Scottsdale, Arizona for a job to get him away from the mess he has created. Patrick goes to the desert location to redeem himself in Derek’s eyes and to get his head focused. For the first time in a long time, Patrick is not willing to let his “little Patrick” make the decisions. He wants to focus on work and nothing else. While in Scottsdale, however, he meets Elaine Merritt. Patrick is immediately attracted to the beautiful blonde and knows instantaneously that she is someone special. The pair share some smoking hot sexy times while in Scottsdale. When it is time to say good-bye Patrick is not ready to let Elaine go. But, Elaine is not willing to do the long distance thing.

Despite their distance, Patrick is ready to do anything to keep Elaine in his life. He just has to convince her that they could make it work. As they both try and figure things out and navigate the beginnings of a new relationship, Patrick’s past indiscretions come back to haunt him. Can Patrick and Elaine make it work? Do they have something worth fight for and worth keeping?

I really enjoyed this new Tia Louise novel. This book, with the exception of the epilogue, is written solely in Patrick’s point of view. I, for one, quite enjoyed being inside Patrick’s brain and I think this author did a pretty great job getting into the mind of an unapologetic rake. I loved seeing Patrick fall hard for Elaine, something he believed he would never do again. My only complaint about this book is that I wish Elaine had been in the book from the very beginning. The first 25% or so was great reading but Elaine was nowhere to be found. I would have liked more time with her and more time with her and Patrick together. I think if this were to have occurred, it would have cemented their relationship a little more clearly and definitively for me. Other than that, I am one happy camper when it comes to this book. It was a gratifying read that I flew through.

Tia Louise has written another book that had me happily smiling and rooting for the characters. It was a lot of fun to read. I am definitely looking forward to more and to seeing what else this author has cooking in that brain of hers.
