5 “Love and Conflict” Stars!

Dirty Ties is yet another reason why I whole-heartedly love this author and would willingly have her love child. The queen of dark romance has given us something completely different than her norm and, yet, equally as enthralling and magnetic. Ms. Godwin has this innate ability to bring her characters to life and provide her reader with a multi-faceted story that will leave you breathless. While this book is not her usual dark romance with psychotic yet lovable characters, this author proves that she can write anything by bringing us a romantic suspense novel with a whole lot of eroticism thrown in that will leave you on the edge of your seat. This is a fast-paced, hard-hitting and gripping novel shrouded in mystery and with quite a few twists and turns I did not see coming. Fantastic!








Thirty-seven year old Kaci Blaskel was born to privilege as the daughter of a very influential family in Chicago. However, she has spent all of her life learning the hard lesson that privilege often comes with a price and, in Kaci’s situation, the price is a high one. She may be beautiful, married and have a successful career as the head of Trenchant Times Division but if one were to look too close they would discover that not all is what it seems. Kaci is trapped and her life is ruled by her power-hungry and vicious family. She has been forced into a marriage forged in deception with her best friend, Collin, and both of them must do as their told and live behind a carefully detailed façade as their families commandeer them as a puppeteer would play with his marionettes. Should Kaci and Collin fail to play the game with their families, it could cost them everything. Living a life that is a lie doesn’t mean that Kaci does not have dreams and desires of her own. She dreams of putting an end to the tyrannical rule that her parents and father-in-law have in her life and she yearns for a relationship that is both intimate and passionate – something she does not have with Collin. Kaci has dark and erotic fantasies and at the center of each and every vivid illusion is The Evader, a man famous in the illegal underground racing syndicate in Chicago. Kaci has never seen him without his bike helmet but that does not stop her from dreaming of all that he could do to her.

Thirty-two year old Logan Flynt is lethal and his need for revenge is the driving force that pushes him day in and day out. At the age of thirteen his life was tragically ripped apart and for the last ten years Logan has been setting up his plan of revenge and vindication. The path of vengeance has been painstakingly slow but Logan knows it is only a matter of time before he accomplishes all that he has in store for the individuals who destroyed him. Nothing is more important to Logan than exacting retribution, that is until he meets an alluring woman who is about to change everything.

That is all I am going to really say about the overall plot. You simply have to read this book for yourself. Just know that this book is an action-packed, high-powered thrill ride from start to finish. I was enthralled for the entire book and it also does not hurt that this book pretty much shattered my ovaries into obliterated pieces of flesh. Yup. It was that hot. Our hero and heroine share some unbelievable chemistry and some of the scenes came close to incinerating my mini iPad that I read off of. True story.

Above the unparalleled suspense story-arc, what lies at the center of this tale is a beautiful love story that goes beyond revenge, coercion and familial ties. What our hero and heroine find with one another is powerful, profound and intense and it culminates into something both of them not only desired but needed. Logan’s master plan for revenge collides with Kaci’s own plans to escape. Secrets, betrayals, and emotional heartache all lead you down a rough and grueling path. One that had me guessing at every turn but also had me clutching my heart (or fanning my vagina.....whatever).

All in all, Dirty Ties is a book that once again proves why I love Pam Godwin’s unconventional romantic tales. Her writing is edgy, vivid and flawless. You will be captivated as Ms. Godwin takes you into the lives of Chicago’s corrupt upper-class and also into the dark underbelly of the racing world. If you have yet to give this author a try, I urge you to do so. You’d be surprised at all the wonder you can find in this tale of intrigue.
