'Til Death - Bella Jewel
4 Stars!

“Let me tell you a story. It's one of those stories that will make you hate with a passion that will scorch your soul.”

‘Til Death by Bella Jewel is the first book in this duet about a man who will stop at nothing to obtain what he wants even if that means crushing anyone in his path. Even if it means doing something he has vowed he would never do. Get married. Well, this could be a recipe for disaster. “They say there’s a fine line between love and hate.” .......

“Love isn't for men like me. I don't have the time or the interest. Love is for the weak.”

Marcus Tandem is set to take over his grandfather’s company, a company that he has overseen for the last ten years. With his grandfather’s passing it should just be a matter of legalities before Marcus takes full ownership. This is not the case. His bastard of a grandfather left some stipulations in his Will that Marcus was not aware of. Marcus must get married within twelve months, and must stay married for two years, or the company will go to one of his trusted advisors instead. Marcus is a man who is involved in many ventures, a lot of which are outside the scope of the law. He is not a good man. He decides to approach his predicament with practicality and decides that he is not about to let his grandfather win. He will find a woman, make her fall in love with him and marry her. Simple.

“A man like Marcus is dangerous for me. He'll destroy me. Crush me. Take my life in his hands and twist it until there's nothing left but a pathetic, dangling string left.”

Katia is an administrative assistant who works long hours for little pay, all to take care of her ailing mother. When her best friend convinces her to go out one evening, Katia has no idea her life is about to change irrevocably. Marcus comes into Katia’s life like an uncontrollable force of nature. He sweeps her off her feet and makes her believe in an illusion. That illusion being the happy life they will share as husband and wife. But, when one hides behind a façade they run the risk of becoming unmasked.

“I love him in a way that's toxic. I know it because no matter how much my heart screams that something isn't right, I can't stay away.”

Katia is this sweet, naïve young woman who falls for a man who utterly consumes her. She fell for the devil himself, a cold, cunning, dangerous and calculating bastard who only thinks of himself and how he can get ahead in life. She goes into this relationship with Marcus with an open heart and rose colored glasses on thinking she is about to commence living a fairytale life. It does not take too long before Katia begins to admit to herself that what she shares with Marcus is simply not real, at least it is not for him. No matter how selfless she is or how much of her heart she invests in her marriage, there is no way she can go on without being destroyed in the process.

“Do you want to come, Katia?”

Well. I’m here, aren’t I?

“I didn’t come for a picnic, “I mutter.

His lip quirks and he leans down, pressing his lips to my ear. There, he whispers, “I very much came for a picnic, and the first thing I’m going to eat, precious, is you.”

Oh. My.

Told in dual POVs, we really get to see how vastly different Marcus and Katia really are. Katia really stood no chance up against all that was Marcus. He is this dangerous wolf who is about to consume his prey. My heart broke for Katia many times throughout the book. I kept wanting her to walk away, not really understanding how she could have fallen for Marcus in the first place. Even in those small instances when Marcus allowed some emotion to seep in, he was still a ruthless bastard. I knew it was only a matter of time before matters would blow up exponentially. And, I was right. With this being said, Bella Jewel did through a few plot twists I did not see coming and one of those was at the end. That is all I will say about that.

All in all ‘Til Death was an enthralling tale that I could not put down. The continuous times jumps from “then” to “now” (past to present) were at times a little choppy and confusing; however, overall this was definitely a book that captured my attention from start to finish. I went into this read not knowing that it would form part of a two book series. Therefore, I was unprepared for the way it ended. Gah! I will now go hide in my bat cave and anxiously await the release of the second book! Dammit!

“I can’t let her in. This isn’t how it’s meant to go.”
