Officer off Limits is the third book in Tessa Bailey’s Line of Duty series. This book features Daniel Chase, hostage negotiator extraordinaire and self-proclaimed lover of women, and Story Brooks, a twenty-five year old kindergarten teacher. Story is the daughter of Daniel’s mentor. See the problem?

Daniel has not led an easy life. Abandoned by his mother at a young age, he has had to endure the foster care system as well as a tragedy that struck at one of his foster homes. Daniel hides behind his ladies’ man persona and his male slut tendencies as he feels like he is not good enough for a decent woman. After all, the woman who was supposed to love him unconditionally abandoned him. Daniel uses sex to distract him from the empty void his life has become. Everything changes when the daughter of his mentor shows up in New York to care for her father after he had a heart-attack. Daniel is taken aback by the beautiful woman with a smart wit and sweet personality.

Story is a sweet and feisty woman who has just been dumped by her ass-hat of a fiancé weeks before their wedding. After learning that her estranged father has experienced a heart-attack, she decides to go to New York to look after him. Story knows that she may be running away from her recent break-up but feels like a little distance from her life will do her some good. She needs to examine the fact that she is not too broken-hearted over the demise of her three year relationship. Fate definitely has different plans for Story. Upon visiting her father for the first time at the hospital, she meets his partner and the man who her father has mentored. Despite the fact that she is completely aware of his whorish ways, Story instantly is attracted to the man who is too hot and too smooth for his own good.

What starts off as a hot and heavy tangle between the sheets....

Daniel has some strong feelings for Story and wants more with her – more than what he’s ever wanted from a woman. His feelings of unworthiness hold him back; however, he is unable to walk away. Story is confused about her strong feelings for Daniel. He is simply a rebound or is this so much more? With some twists and turns, interfering fathers and some drama, Story and Daniel figure things out.


Daniel would never forget that moment if he lived for a hundred years. Within the space of a minute, he’d gone from feeling like the lowest possible life form to champion of the world. Someone who might be worthy of her. She’d made him feel wanted in a way he wasn’t accustomed.

Daniel and Story definitely heat things up with their off the charts chemistry but beyond all the sizzle there is a tender-hearted romance. Underneath Daniel’s carefully crafted façade is a vulnerable man who simply wants to be loved and accepted. It does not take Story too long to see that what she has with Daniel is special. She is just the person that Daniel needs – to love him and fully accept him as is. Daniel is the strong, possessive man that Story needs in her life – a man secure enough to let her be herself.

To sum things up, Officer Off Limits is another great Tessa Bailey read. This author is definitely an automatic buy for me. With hilarious banter, funny dialogue, wonderfully written characters and melt-your-kindle sexy scenes, you cannot go wrong with one of her books. Tessa Bailey books tend to be quick reads but they are definitely worth it. I am definitely looking forward to further books in this series.
