Until November - Review

Until November (Until series) - Aurora Rose Reynolds

description

Until November is the debut novel by Aurora Rose Reynolds and also the first book in her Until series. I really enjoyed this book. You take an over-protective caveman, his enormous family and you throw in a cute, quirky girl who doesn’t see it all coming and what you get is a funny and cute novel that will have you laughing and sighing.

November is almost twenty-five years of age and has lived most of her life under the thumb of her self-absorbed and cruel mother. A tragic and horrifying event has November leaving New York and moving to Tennessee to live with a father she has only known since she was eighteen. This is also thanks to her bitch of a mother. November is anxious to start her new life in Tennessee. What she discovers upon her arrival is that she is welcomed with open arms by not only her father but her entire family on his side that she has never had the opportunity to get to know. Finally she has a real family, something never provided to her by her mother. November settles in quickly and begins to work for her father, doing the books for his club. She meets Mr. Sex-On-A-Stick the first time she is at her dad’s club. Too bad Asher turns out to be a world class ass-hat!

Asher Mayson is the oldest Mayson brother. There are four wonderfully sexy Mayson men! I bet that got your attention. Asher is assertive, successful and is very used to getting his own way. While checking on security at a club one night he sees November. After making some wrong assumptions about her and acting like a douche, he knows that he must have her. There is no stopping Mr. Caveman when it comes to his pursuit of the sassy girl who enthralls him. Too bad November doesn’t understand that she simply must succumb to the magic of all that is Asher. Oh well. She does not stand a chance against Asher and his dominant, possessive and determined methods.

Despite November’s attempt at not starting things up with Asher, things heat up between the pair rather quickly. Yes, there is a whole lot of “insta” happening; however, I am not one that is usually bothered by this. When some threats towards November come into play which could be tied to the very reason that she left New York, Asher goes all alpha-male on her and takes on her safety and protection. Asher will stop at nothing to claim November and make her understand that she means forever to him. With the sizzling hot chemistry between the pair and their growing relationship, Asher is able to show November how worthy of love, care and family she is. They find that once in a lifetime “special” in each other and it all may come to an end with the escalating danger that November finds herself in when the threats increase.

I have to mention that my only peeve about this book was how the author dealt with the passage of time. There was no real sense or clear indications as to how time progressed. For instance, weeks or months sometimes passed from one paragraph (or page) to another. It was all very confusing and baffling at times. Perhaps if Ms. Reynolds made some clear cut attempts at outlining the time lapses the story would have felt more put together. I felt like I was missing out on some of the story every time moved forward and it made the book have a somewhat choppy feel. With all this being said, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. If it were not for the “time” issue, I likely would have rated this book five stars.

All in all, Until November is a wonderfully funny and heart-warming book. I loved the plethora of secondary characters that were introduced and I am very much looking forward to seeing each of the Mayson brothers fall to cupid’s arrow. Kudos to Aurora Rose Reynolds for a fantastic debut novel. I will definitely be reading the next book in this series.
